Bonfire Night
Kate Rancid
A long time ago on this night
A man tried to set parliament alight
But he failed, and soon he was dead
And so now we have fireworks instead
They're going off outside in the park
As I lurk consumptively in my bedroom in the dark
I watch as they light up the black sky
And wonder about this Fawkes Guy
In my feverish sneeze-infested state
By the window I stand shivering and wait
For the next pyrotechnic explosion
I suppose I should really put some clothes on.
